の方が好ましいでしょう。日本語の「大企業ではない」という表現と同等の強調感を出すのに、「that are not large corporations」という表現では不十分であり、「distinct」を使うのが適切です。基本的には、日本語の「である」を、「that constitute」や「that serve as」と英訳するのが適切であることと同じです(「である」については、「日本語の現在時制:『serves』と『constitutes』を使用した『である』『として』『を成すもの』の翻訳」で取り上げています)。
