72. 現在完了時制:「reach conclusions」と「になります」の特殊用途

「技術的な構成を考察すれば、以下のようになります。」という一文を考えてみましょう。

「以下のようになります」は、意味がはっきりしない典型的な日本語表現です。

冒頭の文は、

As a result of studying the technical constitutions, the following conclusions are obtained.

と訳すよりも、

Following a careful examination of the technical configurations of the inventions in question, the following conclusions have been reached.

の方が正確でしょう。
「自分の仕事を部下に渡さないのは間違っています。人が育っていないのではなく、育てていないことになります。」

この文は、直訳では適切な英文にならない文の一例です。

It is a fundamental mistake not to delegate one’s own work to subordinates. And it is also a fundamental misconception to argue that people are not adequately trained for a job when the truth is that a process of training has not been taking place.

くらいが適訳と言えるでしょう。「育てる」を英訳する場合も、現在完了形が適切であることが多いでしょう。
