376. 「時」に関する表現: 「常時」、「流動的に」、「…をモードに」、「常に」、「constantly」

「Z上面に近接方向の付勢力を常時加えるように」という一節を英訳するなら、

so as to always apply an urging force in a direction of bringing X close to the top face of Z

よりも、

so as to apply an urging force in a constant manner in a direction that enables X to approach the top face of Z

の方が適切です。

「付勢力を常時作用させている」なら、

so as to always apply an urging force

ではなく、

so as to apply constantly an urging force

が適切です。「always」がこの例における「常時」の意味で使われることは全くありません。「constantly」は、日本人翻訳者がなかなか効果的に使いこなせない英単語ですが、「常時」の訳語として最良の場合が多いでしょう。

「このばねがZに対して下方向へ付勢力を常時作用させている」という一節も同様で、

this spring always applies the urging force to Z in the downward direction

よりも、

this spring constantly applies an urging force on to Z in a downward direction

の方が適切です。

「常に」という表現を使った「お客様ご依頼製品の納期確保と品質面で満足していただけるように常に努力しております。」という一文についても、

We are constantly endeavoring to satisfy our customers, by meeting the deadlines set by our customers for delivery of products ordered by them, and also by providing satisfaction in terms of quality.

と訳すのが適切です。

「流動的に変化する」なら、「change in flux」ではなく、「change constantly」です。

「…をテーマに」は、「… is a constant theme」と訳すのが一案です。
