「補償内容」に相当する英語表現は、「contents of compensation」よりも、「details of compensation」の方がはるかに好適で、「a breakdown of the compensation」でも良いでしょう。この例で重要なのは、「compensation」という語が持つ本来の性質です。抽象概念ではなく、文書や容器など、物理的属性を持つものに言及する場合は「contents」が適切です。

ある企業に関する見解とその理由を求めるアンケートの回答であれば、「財務内容」に相当する英語表現は、「composition of finances」ではなく、「financial aspects」です。

「主な内容」は、文脈によって、「major contents」または「essential details」と訳せば良いでしょう。

「業務内容」は、企業の場合であれば、「description of work」ではなく、「description of business」または「details of business」が好ましいでしょう。

「規制の見直しが検討されておりますが、その規制の内容によっては、将来、世界中、染毛剤の販売に支障をきたす事態を招きかねないと危惧し」

という一節なら、

よりも、

と訳す方が良いでしょう。この一節は、「内容」の訳語として「content」では不十分ということを示す好例です。日本語の「内容」は、英語の「content」よりもはるかに意味が広範かつ曖昧であり、使い方も英語の「content」とは異なります。

「Z資料は機密の内容が多いため、公開しないことを原則とする。」

という一文を英訳するなら、

Z-materials should not be disclosed as a general rule because they contain a lot of confidential information.

よりも、

Z-materials should in principle not be disclosed, since substantial amounts of confidential information are frequently divulged therein.

または

Z-materials should in principle not be disclosed, since substantial amounts of confidential information may often be divulged therein.

の方が良いでしょう。この例文は、訳しにくくて曖昧な「機密の内容が多い」という日本語を明瞭に英訳しています。「Z資料」とは「証拠」のことであり、特定の文書ではなく、文書の種類、つまり機密の情報を含んでいる文書全般を指しています。
