238. 形容詞の位置: 特殊な例「other than」

「other than」という表現は、後置修飾のわかりやすい例です。

「この出願は第37条に反しているので、Xに関しては特許法第37条以外の要件については審査を行っていない。」という一文を英訳するなら、

Since this application violates Article 37 of the Patent Law inventions according to X are not examined for requirements other than those of Article 37 of the Patent Law.

よりも、

Since this application does not conform to the provisions of Article 37 of the Patent Act, the inventions according to X have not been examined in respect of provisions other than those stipulated in Article 37 of the Patent Act.

の方が適切です。

同様に、「日産以外」という場合も、

other than Nissan

ではなく、

for companies other than Nissan

の方が良いでしょう。
